Have you asked your sixth grader how she/he is liking technology class? It’s one of the exciting changes that come with graduating to the middle school.

This year’s sixth graders were introduced to this new, hands-on subject with a catapult project. This scaled model built in wood, was to have the capability to launch a table-tennis ball at a target, and score as many points as possible.

Students started by drawing a set of full-scale plans for their catapult, before measuring and cutting all the components. In the process, they applied math and science skills, and learned to use a variety of tools.
