Hr. Hoffman’s Physical Science – Scrambled Eggs 101

The Students Mission was to design and produce a handmade protective container that utilizes a minimal amount of materials in order to protect a fragile product (a raw egg) in a free fall of 5 meters or higher and not break. Students competed against one another for the best designs, while protecting their egg. With each successful drop students progressed to higher and higher heights until one design remained. The objective for each student was to apply their knowledge of potential and kinetic energy to a working model; and keep an egg from breaking or cracking when dropped. Additionally, students were to maintain a daily diary and outline their progress while researching, designing and testing their protective container.
