Minisink Valley High School seniors Jack Wilson Golden and Jasmine Lites were among 34 honorees from 17 school districts recognized at the annual Orange-Ulster BOCES Senior Scholar Humanities Awards Breakfast, on April 27.

Jack Wilson Golden plans to attend SUNY Binghamton this fall. As a member of Minisink’s Key Club and the National Honor Society, Jack has dedicated countless hours to giving back to his community. Also a member of the Film Society, Jack’s creative interests and skills led him to enter a county-wide logo design contest last year. Jack was the winner and his work will appear on Veteran discount cards across Orange County. In the months and years ahead, Jack plans to remain active in his community and will begin by volunteering for Minisink’s varsity baseball and swimming summer camps.

Jasmine Lites will attend Crane School of Music in Potsdam, NY this fall to pursue a major in music education. Jasmine is a drum major for the Minisink Valley Marching Band, and a low brass section leader for the Symphonic Band and the Wind Ensemble. She is also a soprano in the Chamber Choir and has shown an outstanding commitment to the school’s music programs. Throughout high school, Jasmine performed in three All-County events. Four solo performances at New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) festivals earned her first chair trombone in Area-All State, and an alternate for All-State. Jasmine is currently fundraising to help the Minisink Chorus go to Goshen’s Relay for Life in June.
