FLOUR + EDUCATION = COMMUNITY SERVICE


Students in third through fifth grades enjoyed a baking assembly called, Life Skills Bread Baking Program.  This program was sponsored by King Arthur Flour Company.  The baker showed students how math, science, language, and problem solving skills incorporate into "real-life" through baking.  At the conclusion of the program, students were given materials to bake two loaves of bread; one to keep and one to donate to a community organization.  Four large containers of student baked bread was delivered to St. Patrick's Soup Kitchen in Newburgh.  Through this activity, our students have learned that the message of our school's theme, A Garden of Learning, extends far beyond the garden gate.
