Our technology specialist, Mrs. Decker, has been helping our students with staying safe on the internet. Here is a podcast created by the third graders in Mrs. Gale’s and Mrs. Kosowicz’s Class highlighting the safety tips they learned.  The podcast can be viewed here

You can find more information about internet safety by visiting the link on Minisink's home page.  CLICK HERE

Some more useful links can be viewed below:

  • PBS Kids has established a great interactive website where children take a quiz on internet safety habits.  They navigate through a map, and once they've completed all questions, they can print their "Internet License" which includes a pledge.
  • The FBI has established a good site for kids that takes them on a "virtual field trip" through internet safety precautions.  Visit their site HERE.
  • An accompanying parent guide can be viewed HERE.
  • NETSMARTZ is a website division of the Center for Missing and Exploited Children.  This site includes a section for parents, children, educators, and law enforcement.
  • IKEEPSAFE is powered by AOL and includes a great interactive component.
  • AT&T has an interactive game complete with Heroes and Villains.

Of course, absolutely NO WEBSITE, NO QUIZ, or NO INTERACTIVE GAME can replace the careful guidance of a parent or guardian.  The most important component of online safety is parental supervision!
