Each student in Mrs. Marcolina's 5th grade class recently participated in the annual poster contest sponsored by The American Legion Auxiliary Post 1607.

Following a classrooom unit of study on American Citizenship and Veterans Day, students created original posters representing this year's topic: "A Veteran Is __________".  The posters were submitted to the American Legion, and four winners of a $25.00 WalMart gift card were selected.

On November 15, 2012, Auxiliary members, Mrs. Manzie and Mrs. Lamando, visited the classroom, spoke with students, announced winners (Keegan Beamish, Krystal Dixon, Jack Fulton, and Rosemarie McCarey), and gave Certificates of Participation to everyone.

Posters will be on display at the Westtown American Legion through December for the enjoyment of veterans, their families, and other friends who may stop by.  This activity was just a small way for the 5RM students to show their deep gratitude and appreciation to our local veterans.
